I started using the mylife YpsoPump about a year ago, and I have not looked back.
Prior to starting on the YpsoPump, I was using a different pump that I was very unhappy with. I found it clunky and difficult to use – so my diabetes educator suggested the YpsoPump as an alternative. I decided to try it, not least because of its notably small size.
The training for the YpsoPump was fantastic. After the initial training session in hospital, an Ypsomed product specialist, Tanya, came to my house and took me through it as well. The process was incredibly straightforward – and the written materials were really clear as well.
It is the little things that make a big difference
When people ask me what I like about the YpsoPump, the first thing I say is “size, size, size!” because the YpsoPump is so small and light compared to other pumps. It is hard to overstate how much difference that makes, especially for women because we often have to put the pump in our bra or wherever else we can – the YpsoPump is very discreet! And because of the pump’s small size, I find it more comfortable to wear, which means I sleep better.
Aside from that, I also love the styling and design of the YpsoPump. The interface has clearly been designed with the user in mind – once I got used to some of the icons, I found it really intuitive to use, and it’s so easy to do things like download reports.
A company that takes my care personally
Right from the time I first started using the YpsoPump, the service from Ypsomed was outstanding. The day after I got the pump, I happened to be conducting a workshop when the pump started beeping – and would not stop! But the next day, Tanya was at my house with a replacement pump. It was absolutely no hassle at all.
With Ypsomed, I feel like I actually have a relationship with the company – I have personal contact with someone I trust, which was not the case with my previous pump. It is just a much more genuine relationship, which is really important when it comes to health issues.
Personally, the YpsoPump has been great for me, and I think it has a lot of advantages, but that does not mean it is right for everyone. If you are considering your pump options, my advice is to think about your own priorities, read what other people are saying about the pumps on offer, and do your homework!
